... Audacity mixes down all the old tracks to the new recording track, as well as recording the new audio. You need to disable/ un select "record what-U-hear" aka "Stereo Mix", aka "Wave Out", aka "Sum" aka "Loopback" in the Windows recording device...

Rather than give you a lecture about impedance matching and pre-amps , I’ll cut to the chase. I don't think there is a one-size-fits-all equalization which would suit everything from tinny earbuds to a bassy car stereo.
Could try comparing the frequency spectrum of a professional "live band" recording with your self-made recording and modifying the equalization to match.
