Re: Art dual Pre question (hiss?) - new user
… so now I have to figure out what is interfering with the program. I don't think it is emi The EMI could be emitted from your newer computer and picked up by the microphone and/or its cable. Your old computer which does not cause the problem could be better shielded to prevent EMI. You could test ...

Re: Art dual Pre question (hiss?) - new user
Not sure what to call it? Your noise sounds and looks like interference from a computer { EMI} , e.g. ... spectrum of noise generated by computer. Also has ~1KHz harmonics (peaks).png It may even be interference from a mobile (cell) telephone, although its 1KHz peaks are exact multiples ... mobile ...

Re: Art dual Pre question (hiss?) - new user
If you look at the harmonics in the noise they are at approximately 1000Hz intervals ... harmonics at approx 1KHz intervals.png If the noise was mains electricity the harmonics would be at 60Hz intervals (in USA). It does sound like exogenous interference ( EMI ), but it wouldn't hurt to make sure A...

Re: A couple recording questions...
All the instruments have some white noise in the back, and I found myself using Noise Removal for an hour last night... any suggestions on that? A noise gate plug-in, ( like Steve's ), can squelch background hiss to proper silence during times when there is no input, i.e. it won't remove hiss from ...

Attachments Sym 7 1st snippit.mp3 If you receive crackling while playing and recording, try increasing the "audio to buffer" setting in the Recording Preferences in Audacity Beta. If you suspect recording dropouts as the cause of loss of synchronisation, read our tips about managing compu...

Re: Help PLEASE!!!!
I'm trying to record a dj mix straight in to the laptop. I'm guessing it's in the right port cos there's only 2 ports, 1 of which being for the headphones. If you're feeding the line-out signal from the mixer to the microphone socket on the computer that could explain the distortion, see these link...

Re: Combining Separate Tracks That Should be Continuous
You could zoom in on the join, (zoom-in until you can see sample points on the waveform), and use " Repair " which will smooth any discontinuity at the join which is causing a click. However If there is a missing bit between the two pieces of music, even just a tiny fraction of a second, t...

Re: How to amplify after noise removal w/out adding noise
I received the audio files again from the source after he downloaded them from his digital recorder to his computer, through sendthisfile.com. It still sounds just as bad. I am going to go pick up a disk now and see if that is any clearer. The person with digital recorder will be tempted to edit th...

Re: How to amplify after noise removal w/out adding noise
I have no other problems with other clients who email files to me Sending an audio file by Email per se does not introduce the compression artifacts. The file size restriction on email attachments , (5Mb - 25Mb depending on email provider), may have obliged the sender to compress a large audio file...
