if you fast forward then rewind the entire cassette before you attempt to transfer it to computer it will even out the tension on the cassette tape and may cure the variable tape speed / tape misalignment problem(s).

Where did you get it from? Where's the web site? Letting someone else Google "hardcore" I see :) ... when I got to put the hardcore effect on the vocals I just recorded it just makes my whole vocals max out and distort like to the maxium but on a mp3 beat I imported it works fine all this...

Mains hum? Is that generated by mains power used to run the recorder? This one was probably battery powered, if mains than 240volt. .. there was a buzzing droning noise in the 100 to 180 Hz range ... You need to install something called LAME encoder into Audacity if you want to export (save) a version in mp3 format ...
