Re: Please assist with the very BASICS
If you are trying to record the sound your computer is making using Audacity, see ... http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_audio_playing_on_the_computer.html If you have the video file on your computer, Audacity can quickly extract the sound from it if you install something called...

Re: Trying to find how quickly a series of sounds plays
Yes but I need such a figure for this file for each beepstyle: http://www.filedropper.com/123monovstr ... The more accurate the method the better. Millisecond accuracy is needed. "123monoVstr" group 1 (between 2-7seconds) : @ 2200Hz ten pluses take somewhere between 0.490 and 0.498 of a s...

Re: Trying to find how quickly a series of sounds plays
They should be roughly 50 ms apart ... As can be seen from the spectrogram in my previous post , the different frequencies in the beeps have different durations: 1300Hz harmonic is about twice as long as the one at 1800Hz, so the gap between when one beep ends and the next begins depends on what fr...

Re: Recording result sounds thin out of phase
I have disabled every software enhancement I can find on the speakers, etc. I have turned off, I believe, Beats Audio. The computer uses motherboard audio. I was thinking of purchasing a sound card to try to get away from the problem - it just seems like something to try. Any suggestions? The sound...

Re: Large files
Attached is "coming soon to a theatre near you" as mono 32kbps CBR MP3. The first half is directly from the sample from Trebor. The second has been pre-filtered at 6 kHz (6000 Hz) and has noticeably less "artefacts" without sounding too muffled. Is that "pre-filtered" ...

Re: Can you help me EQ/process my live MP3 recording?
Trebor, did you export your remix at 256kb? I usually use 256kbps, but as Koz says mp3, (even at 256kbps), is going to add more compression damage because mp3 is lossy compression format. FLAC format is a loss less compression format, but the compression ratio is only 1:2 whereas mp3 can be 1:10 i....

Re: Large files
Mono yes. That helps a lot. However: from 44100Hz (default) to 22025Hz My money is that doesn't work I just tested that and you're right, the bit rate (kbps) defines the size of the mp3 file, (I'm getting WAV and MP3 properties confused  ) However there are less digital artifacts if you use a...

Re: Large files
I'm trying to reduce a 25MB streamed audio (talking) mp3 file to 4 or 5MB to email a short (and smaller) clip. If it's only talking (not music) you could try changing the sample rate (project rate bottom left) from 44100Hz (default) to 22025Hz and exporting with a MP3 bit rate of 64Kbps. Also reduc...
