Re: Audacity as an aid to Harmony Singers
... the imported stereo tracks have the voice I want in the left hand stereo half while other extraneous voices have leaked into the right hand half. Moving the Panning arrow all the way to the left removes these extraneous voices leaving the voice part I want isolated which is perfect for my purpo...

Re: Does Noise removing twice badly impact the actual rec?
Q1. I now have an excellent number of steps to make an excellent recording; my question is remember Koz's suggestion on page 1 (Sat Jun 29)? Where he recommened notch filer (171,10). Is that helpful in my case? I mean now that I have all the steps and settings that you provided? Koz is right : ther...

Re: Does Noise removing twice badly impact the actual rec?
Thanks for your suggested settings in regards to the "Steve's pseudo-stereo plugin". I will follow the setting as the picture in the post is displayed, OK? The values I used were both around 22, feel free to experiment with these values but higher values , say above 40, will begin to inte...

Re: Does Noise removing twice badly impact the actual rec?
Q1: What are the new steps that you applied? Q2: What are the recommended settings? A1) Steve's pseudo-stereo plugin , and de-essing via " Spitfish " plugin. A2) For Steve's pseudo-stereo effect you first need to duplicate the single mono track to create "dual mono" : select all...

Re: Does Noise removing twice badly impact the actual rec?
ahhhh ok thanks, I will keep that in mind. btw so the last audio clip that I attached is good to go? is it good enough in terms of recording and quality output for the audience online/CDs? It's quite good, however here a few minor clicks that could be fixed using Audacity's " repair ". IM...

Re: Does Noise removing twice badly impact the actual rec?
btw does 'Noise gate' only work if I remove ALL the 'any conspicuous unwanted noises (spikes) which occur between phrases' or doing and silencing 2-3 is enough for the noise gate to take effect? The noise gate will still function if you do not manually remove these noises, but it will perform bette...

Re: Does Noise removing twice badly impact the actual rec?
... I was testing and applying the 1-6 steps, and I squeezed the notch filter as step 6 (Koz's advice: 171, 10), and made the limiter step number 7. The end result is attached. Attachments done with fx 1-6 do i need bass or treble.rar You've not done all of Step 5 : silence any conspicuous unwanted...

Re: Amplify suggestions
I don't understand this: I have a stereo file, and when I click Amplify, it suggests -1,3, but if I make it to mono and click Amplify, then it suggests +1.1 How can that be??? destructive interference : sound waves can cancel each other out ... http://acousticslab.org/psychoacoustics/PMFiles/PMImag...
Re: Help
Sounds like you need to add something called FFmpeg to Audacity so it can recognise the format of the audio file you are trying to import, see ...http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... tml#ffdowntlinclay71 wrote:... the imported audio is not recognized by Audacity.
