Re: Reducing the size of a wav file
Only by reducing the sample-rate and/or the bit-depth, both of which will degrade the sound ,compushine wrote:I have about a dozen wav files that are 700-1000 KB. I need to reduce them to about 150-200KB. Can Audacity do that?
if the end result still has to be WAV.

Re: Best way to edit squeaks from live music recording
If the squeak only occupies a small part of the sound-spectrum you may be able to notch each instance out.
( you may then need to use "repair" on either end of the notched section to avoid clicks ).

Re: How to edit track to minimize "Hard consonants"
I have very precise diction and my "t's" in particular are amplified in my recordings. If the problem is also on plosives like "P" & "B" , try a pop-shield about 4" from the microphone ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_shield , ( an improvised shield can be...

Re: Plug-in not plugging in (RAR file w/winxp 32 bit)
The page I found it on, http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/RedSkullDistortion/ , states it's a VST plugin - by Auraplug.. "Volume I - Red Skull Distortion Version:2.2 Windows 32/64-bit VST" Once unpacked the RAR file [ using PeaZip ] I put the folder with all its contents (the 32 and 64...

Re: Click & pop hunting tips needed
p,s Is there a shortcut or facility to automatically flatten out a waveform line between two points or induce a curve instead of a spike? A low-pass filter will smooth the waveform , you may have to use repair on the ends of the section where a low-pass equalization has been applied ... low-pass eq...

Re: Click & pop hunting tips needed
I've had some success with more obvious ones but there are two or three slight clicks where I can't locate any obvious defect in the waveform. Try Audacity's spectrogram view , rather than waveform view ... http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/m/images/6/6e/sndaudacityspectrogram.png http://manual.auda...

Re: Invert effect is audible?
A similar difference can be heard (in headphones) when inverting a sawtooth waveform. Here's a low-pass filtered sawtooth waveform. The only difference between the two tones is that one is inverted. Attachments filtered-saw.wav Even if you just play "filtered-saw.wav" in one earphone the ...

Re: Invert effect is audible?
If one track of a dual-mono pair is inverted it sounds different.
On headphones the invert-effect is just spatial,
via loudspeakers it could have an effect on frequency-content because of interference.

Re: Compressor vs SC4
Reverse the track , apply SC4 , then reverse it back : now you have lookahead compression ( I think
)
