Re: Raise (amplify) the peaks
Some compressor plug-ins can be configured to expand, but I don't know of one off-hand... Maybe Audacity's compressor can do it... I don't know. Chris's Compressor can expand if you use a negative value for "compression ratio". Steve did make a "peak processor" nyquist plugin wh...

Re: Assistance with hiss diagnosis
I tested recording using the Windows Sound Recorder. Here are links ... WMA - https://www.dropbox.com/s/beb4ieq95gdmewe/Untitled.wma?dl=0 This was with the mic level at 50%. It sounds to me like the hiss is still there, but I haven't been able to figure out if it's quanitized... The hiss noise on t...

Re: Updated De-Clicker and new De-esser for speech
Here's a crunchy one from 1923 ... '' I'm Broke Fooling With You'' 1923 , before-after de-clicker settings shown, (no other noise reduction).flac De-Crackle settings (compromise, processing is 4x playback time).png The settings are a compromise : trading off DeCrackle against processing time. The se...

Re: Updated De-Clicker and new De-esser for speech
Fixing spikes in a signal may actually be a different problem from fixing small natural sounds of short duration ... DeCrackle looks like the DeClick problem but on a smaller time-scale, so a DeClicker will also DeCrackle, but inevitably involves a lot more computational effort because the occurren...

Re: To Avoid a Tedious Task
You have to label the parts of the track you want to split , then Audacity can export each labelled section as a separate file , (automatically numbered if you want), using "export multiple".

Re: DeClicker ... it's also a DeCrackler if you push it to the max ...
Now the bad news ...
processing to DeCrackle takes about 10x the playback time on my 5 year-old dual core computer,
(your mileage may vary).

Re: Clicks/Beeps in Recorded Audio w. Video Examples
Thanks! I have noise removal at 25 (the top slider). What should I lower it to? 10 is a typical value for me, you should use the bare minimum of noise reduction. There should still be a hint of hiss-noise between words rather than total silence, as the onset of speech after total silence is jarring...

Re: Clicks/Beeps in Recorded Audio w. Video Examples
As the video explains, I'm looking for A) what is causing the noise? Is it mouth noise, a mic problem, a connection problem, something else? It's not digital , it's mechanical : the diaphragm of the mic occasionally sticking and freeing itself with a click + ring. IMO microscopic blobs of saliva hi...

Re: Copy/Paste tracks between projects, losing quality
Actually, is the mere presence of a track that is 16000 Hz going to stop me from ever pasting something higher quality in? The project sample-rate (shown on the bottom left corner of Audacity) determines the highest possible quality of the show when it is saved ["exported"] as a WAV file....
