Steve made an experimental plugin for Audacity which can be used to modify the frequency-response of one file to match another ... http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 53#p258053
NB: Steve's plugin is not the same as auto-tune , which is what you could also be describing.

Re: everything has an echo since I unplugged device
Just enable the recording-device you're using for the microcassette ... http://wiki.audacityteam.org/w/images/c/c8/Vistarec.png You should use the "line-in" option to get the sound into the computer, rather than microphone socket on the computer which is too sensitive for the signal coming...

Re: Issues with the Echo Effect
If you repeat the section you want echoed, i.e. two (or more) copies end-to-end, then apply echo, then delete un-echoed bit at the start.northernsoul13 wrote:... know a remedy?
Whatever the "delay time" you've set on the echo-effect, it's going to take that long before the echo effect kicks-in.

I would like to do the following Doppler Effect investigation with my class, but am not sure of how to use Audacity to analyse the results...has anyone done this and could send me some step-by-step instructions? Re: Keeping the WAV file mono
If it's just a recording of your voice only, (e.g. no backing music on another track ), then selecting " 1 channel (mono)" in Audacity preferences may give you what you are looking for ... Audacity Preferences , mono recording selected.png You can change the "Quality" to 16-bit i...

https://soundcloud.com/john-hofacker-1/end-song thanks for all the help for far. :) IMO the lead guitar needs to be louder in the mix , difficult to do that when one only has the final mix to work with, but I gave it a shot ... excerpt of ''end-song'', before-after.mp3 If you're making loud rock mu...

Re: Low volume, high-pitched sound with every recording
There is a software fix for the "mosquito" problem , ( which is harmonics from the powersupply at 1KHz intervals ) If you copy and paste the code below into something called " Nyquist Prompt " in Audacity "Effects" ... (setf s (notch2 s 13888 50)); notch stray note at 1...

Re: Distorted playback & exported mp3
I was thinking intermittent dips in the internet connection may be responsible for the degradation of sound quality. If you're using Wi-Fi , a reflector on the router antenna can boost the signal, and stop your neighbours WiFi degrading your signal ... http://www.freeantennas.com/projects/template2/...

Re: Distorted playback & exported mp3
I should have been more clear. The poor quality is evident when playing back the clip inside Audacity right after it has been recorded. The mp3 faithfully preserves the defect but AFAIK it sounds no worse than the Audacity playback. Try recording streamed audio using Windows own (native) "Soun...

... Is there a way to extract audios from videos ... You can extract , aka "rip" , the audio from a video using Audacity , but you must install something called "FFmpeg" into Audacity first , see ... http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#[i]How_...
