Re: Updated De-Clicker and new De-esser for speech

... When deessing a large file (e.g. 2 hours) plugin consumes a few GB of memory. Sometimes for this reason Audacity crashes with OOM. I was wondering perhaps someone knows how to debug and fix this issue? A workaroubnd : De-ess your 2hour show in smaller manageable chunks. ... I was looking for co...

Trebor i can hear ... 17khz. ... my hearing is much more then i thought Some of the content of that 17kHz recording I posted is a low as 13kHz, which is audible by most people. [ Telephone-quality voice has 4kHz bandwidth ]. Steve has posted several bits of code on how to produce so-called "si...

Re: Advice sought; EQ following speed conversion of tape

My process thus far has been to drop from the B77 though a RME UCX to Audacity at 88.2kHz. The top end of the Revox is 20 kHz +2 / -3 dB at 7.5 ips (when new). I then set to 44.1. If you then look at the a spectrogram-view of the sound in audacity , you will readily see if any piano above 11kHz has...

Re: Advice sought; EQ following speed conversion of tape

I'm transferring a range of 3.75 ips tapes for restoration. Rather than using a geriatric Akai which will only reluctantly do 3.75 ips, I've been using a B77 Revox at 7.5 ips and using Audacity to do a sample rate conversion to the correct speed. This has been very successful as far as it goes. How...

Re: common background separation

I don't see how a center-channel remover/isolator is going to help me here. Combine the two left channels as a stereo-pair, then and apply a centre-isolator to that pair, the result will be a mono track, consisting of what is common to the two left channels. Repeat with the two right channels. I do...

Re: Background Sound Behind Voice Over Problem

I've attached a screen shot of the Audacity make up. The voice-over level-slider is too high: the value looks around +9dB, [ "+" means boost, i.e. louder ] .... slider [coloured red] looks like +9, should be zero.png Given the amplitude of your voice-recording, that level-slider should be...
