Re: Creating an old console effect
I did convert it using SoX, but it did nothing but giving me a .lpc10 file, and I wasn't able to open it in Audacity to degrade it and convert it into a wav again. Audacity can't play LPC10 format , you have to convert the LPC10 file into a WAV file version using SoX. Audacity will be able to play ...

Re: Creating an old console effect
... I did manage to convert my WAV to LPC10 but what's next ? Is it the right way to do it ? Once you've converted from WAV to LPC10 , then you need to degrade the audio to 8-bit depth for that authentic 1980's sound. I used the free "degrade" plugin here ... http://mda.smartelectronix.co...

Re: Passing the ACX test, BUT does it sound any good?
Here's another recording of the same piece, this time I've left the headphones outside and I've taken an extra step back from the mic. To me, it sounds reasonable, quieter (peaking at -15) but not drilling any holes in wood, methinks? How's the room tone this time? she sat dbl dist no fones.wav Rem...

Re: Radio Commercial
I was not actually recording what I was going to say in the commercial, but rather doing an auctioneering chant. With Audacity you can increase the speed of speech without changing the pitch [ No Chipmunk] by using either "Change Tempo" , or " Sliding Time Scale ", ( IMO the lat...

Re: Creating an old console effect
I would like to reproduce the effect we can hear on this webpage : http://smite.gamepedia.com/Super_Chronos_64_voicelines (just click on Play on any voiceline to hear it). It's like the sound has been produced from an old console, but I can't find anything on the web to do so. That speak-n-spell vo...

... I've tried a low pass filter, high pass filter, the ClickRemoval tool mentioned here , and the instructions for inverting here -- all to no avail. I too would use a low pass filter , ( removing everything above 5kHz ) , then Brian Davies DeClick [ mainly DeCrackle at maximum] then Brian Davies ...

Re: Snare and cymbal in separate channels
... I'm going to make the recording a pseudo-stereo recording (thanks Trebor!) then use the process I used before to clean up the recording. If you are going to "clean up" the mono track, you should do that before making a pseudo-stereo version. Steve's pseudo-stereo effect has delay whic...

I also intermittently have trouble getting sound through the headphones when recording (but not on playback) and have't a notion why If you are listening to your voice through headphones as you record, then possibly your problem could be due to acoustic-feedback : i.e. the sound of your voice i...
