Re: First application of effect is being unnecessarily delay

That selections from the effect-menu are taking about 3 seconds too long to appear may be a clue : the delay could be in the GUI ...
When using "Ctrl"+"R" there is no change in the GUI, and there is no delay in the effect being applied.

Re: First application of effect is being unnecessarily delay

Does this only occur when the track spectrogram view is selected? No, it happens on waveform display too. I just used spectrogram display because it is better at showing that the equalization had changed. If this problem is specific to the Vista version of Windows just forget about it : Vista is on...

First application of effect is being unnecessarily delayed

Audacity 2.1.2 on Windows Vista. Animation shows two applications of same equalization: the second application, via "Ctrl"+"R", (at 14.17 seconds), only takes 1/24th of the time of the first application :? #1 The equalization window takes 3.2 seconds to appear after being selecte...

Re: How can I make my voice sound a little younger/older?

How can I make my voice sound a little younger/older? Older : Reduce pitch (and optionally decrease tempo). Younger : Increase pitch (and optionally increase tempo). http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/sliding_time_scale_pitch_shift.html You can only get away with changes of +/-10% before it sounds ...

Only noticeable via the beats effect.
If the pitch of a recording was 1% out, listeners would not be able to tell without a reference-tone to give the beats-effect.

Re: Trim silence from start and end only

I've seen websites mentioning there's a trim silence option, that works like truncate silence but only removes the silence from the start and end of an audio track, rather than everywhere in an audio track. If you use truncate-silence with a "detect" duration which is longer than any sile...

Re: Transposition of the harmonic series

... I want to change the standard that the transposing tools work on from A440 to A444 ... One of Audacity's two pitch-shift tools [ #1 , #2 ] can make that 1% change. However I'm not sure it will be worth the effort (or the inevitable digital-artifacts) : the resolution of human-hearing is about 4...

Re: Cassette Tapes to CD-R's

...What about importing into iTunes, making up some playlists and giving them all the files on a flash drive? That way, at least they could listen with an iPod and a speaker. A 4GB flash drive could store 50 hours if you converted the WAV files to MP3 , which you can do with Audacity . If you keep ...

Re: Cassette Tapes to CD-R's

The "first half" file on my hard disk is about 700MB. The disk capacity of the CD-R that I have is slightly over 800MB. It doesn't take a math major to see that this isn't going to work, not unless I want to end up with 50 or so CD's making up my collection of these old broadcasts. That's...
