Your example "test4" has a missing bit : that's a drop-out . ... the context of the room ... Feng shui will not stop further dropouts. ATTACHMENTS second computer test 1.wav. Has a few mouth-clicks, (made by you) , e.g. @ ~1 second , but no dropouts. There's a DeClicker plugin for Audacit...

Quantize-noise is close, (and doesn't require the overhead of re-sampling to 1MHz) ...

Audio electronics are designed to record up to ~20kHz, (most people can only hear up to ~16kHz). You may have seen signal above 20kHz on a spectrogram when sampling at 96kHz, but it will just be inaudible (ultrasonic) digital-artifacts. If the sampling-rate & the bit-depth on the USB device does...

Pressing "Ctrl"+"S" saves as an Audacity project.
"Ctrl"+"Shift"+"E" Exports the audio.

Once you apply a limiter without make-up-gain, it's going to reduce the RMS value a little.
