Does Audacity keep data in cache or temp file when all audio windows have been closed after editing? Audacity only keeps a copy if it crashes, otherwise it's automatically deleted when Audacity is closed. In windows it's stored here ... C:\Users\<YourNameHere>\AppData\Roaming\Audacity\AutoSave Pers...

I do not have any other application running other than those running in the background. None are sound intensive. The competing processes don't have to use sound, they, and Audacity, all use CPU . Try increasing the CPU-priority of Audacity from "normal" to "above normal" so it'...
