How can I record audio (say the audio track of a Youtube video) without getting the room ambience picked up by the computer's built-in mic? Is Audacity recording directly from the track that is playing or is it recording via the mic which is picking up the sound from the built-in speaker? In an ear...

I am able to pass the ACX check plugin on Audacity. However there is a very audible hissing sound. Some Nyquist plugins ( like hum remover) cannot cope with very long audio (hours).
The workaround is to split the audio into digestible chunks, of, say, an hour each.
