Re: First track ok but subsequent tracks muffled

In Windows recording devices there is a setting to fix a particular recording-device as the default to stop it automatically switching to something else. Worth trying if your recording device seems to be changing of its own accord.

Re: No Woman, No Cry

Rather than start with a book, I'd try short jobs first, while you refine your technique. ( you could invest a week reading a book, & editing it, and the only return could be criticism ). If you can create a reverb-free room, your recordings would be technically better than some of the people on...

From Mark Twain on the First Woman in Nevada ATTACHMENTS MT Nevada 001.mp3 (1.79 MiB) Excellent delivery. The standout problem with that is reverberation from the room. Expansion can help reduce reverb, (and push-down the noise-floor ). Expansion makes the quiet bits even quieter, but leaves everyt...

Help? Someone?
To determine whether it's an Audacity or Windows problem try one of Audacity's competitors,
e.g. ... https://www.ocenaudio.com/
If the same problem persists it's not due to Audacity.

Re: Use "noise gate" to paste room tone?

If you find that you need to fix hundreds or thousands of lip-smack sounds, then you either need to improve your reading voice, or find someone else to be the voice talent. Paul-L's De-Clicker plugin can reliably remove the brief (<5ms) high-frequency (>2kHz) lip-smacking clicks without damaging th...

Re: Hum remover.

I can't use non-Alpha version of Audacity ... Alpha software is not reliable: it often has bugs. Alpha software is the weakest-link in your chain, (not the plugin, not the OS, not the hardware). I have to ask the specialists to provide a link to another Hum remover, if any, before finding out the r...

Re: How can I cut every small peaks ? (see pic)

I'm musicotherapist and I work with acouphenic personns. I need to smooth the high frequencies that can be aggressive for them when they "peak", but I still need to keep them high. Multi-band dynamic-range-compression can attenuate any (bands of) frequencies which go above a volume-thresh...

Re: Audio export conundrum

... the working, importable tracks have a bitrate of 2116kbps, and the problem tracks have a bitrate of 2304kbps. How this change has occurred I just can't fathom ... The ratio between the size of those files is 1 : 0.918 4 The ratio between the sample-rates 48kHz & 44.1kHz is 1: 0.918 75. So p...

Re: Hum remover.

I've raised the revision to Home - the problem remained. Easier to try another (non-Alpha) version of Audacity, than to change the operating-system. https://www.audacityteam.org/download/ If you are looking for a stable released version of Audacity for production work, don't use the alpha builds.png
