Re: Calculate the vibrations
Is it possible to calculate the frequency of oscillations of a sound with Audacity?... Yes on Audacity's spectrogram-view , (as opposed to the default waveform-view) https://manual.audacityteam.org/m/images/4/49/spectrogramview_11.png Although you may have to increase the frequency-resolution (aka ...

Re: Constant, very quiet clicking
... one little sample I recorded now had me hearing what sounded like a cricket outside the window. Weird, since it's the middle of the day now ... USB microphones can generate a cricket/mosquito type noise . There is an Audacity plugin to remove it ... https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?...

Re: Constant, very quiet clicking
Any ideas? I'm trying to give recording an audio book a try and that's when I noticed it, once I got everything as quiet as I can manage. The clicks are almost exactly one second apart. Perhaps software conflict ?: Audacity momentary interrupted as other software which tries (and fails) to take con...

I've been trying all afternoon to cut the beginning and the end of a recording, but haven't been able to. I've read all the tutorials available... Select the portion you want to remove, then click on "delete" in the edit menu . You'll have to do this twice: once to trim the start, and aga...

Re: Need help in Editing a voice-over
But the audacity recording itself had noise issues , even before exporting it to mp3 format .. The issues may be " enhancements " that Windows (not Audacity) is applying, (e.g. noise-reduction, echo-reduction). Those Windows enhancements (in both recording & playback tabs) should be s...

Re: compress high frequencies to lower frquencies
Andrew Reeman's "Frequency magnet" plugin (free) can bring down higher frequencies without affecting the lower ones Andrew Reeman's ''Frequency magnet'' plugin.gif NB : If you tick the Enable box on "Frequency magnet" GUI Audacity will crash, so you can't adjust the settings in r...

Re: compress high frequencies to lower frquencies
But I don't think it will improve intelligibility of speech, quite the reverse. DtBlkFx can bring the sibilance of speech down to within your hearing range , but the overall effect is like space-aliens ... Re: compress high frequencies to lower frquencies
So what I want to do is compress the frequency range 5000-8000hz into a range of 2600-2700hz You're asking for a gallon in a pint-pot. There is a free plugin called DtBlkFx which will compress/expand (& shift) frequency-ranges ... resize.png But I don't think it will improve intelligibility of ...
