Do I first apply RMS Normalize just to the narrated track then, and are you saying to then bring in the music track and use Dynamic-Mirror? Trying to understand the order of the steps you're suggesting. Also, I currently use Envelope for the music because it's only at the beginning and end of the p...

... Once I've edited all of the narration tracks of the podcast, is it smarter/better to apply RMS Normalize at this point, or is it better to apply it after I add in the music track? ... If the narration & music overlap you should consider auto-ducking which automatically turns down the music ...

If you're able to hear the old track whilst recording the new version,
overdub must have been ticked in Audacity preferences.
