Re: Compression
Hi, i've now defintely isolated "compressor" as the cause of making the ESSSS "s" sounds very piercing. Which setting should I tweak ... The Audacity compressor can't differentiate sibilance, ( ESSSS "s" sounds ), from other components. Try Steve's de-esser plugin ( af...

Re: Nyquist prompt to cause pitch to be influenced by amplitude?

The Mutron plugin filters the sound according to the amplitude, (aka the envelope), but it does not...

Re: subliminal recording
how do i amplify the floor noise? Select some "silence" then amplify it to 0dB . It's just random noise but people interpret parts of it as speech, (an audio equivalent of Rorschach inkblots: a form of pareidolia ). The codecs & (other processing) used can make plain noise seem even m...

Re: subliminal recording
There will usually be some noise-floor on any recording, rather than absolute flat-line silence.jack magee wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2019 12:36 pm... should a completely silent track have waves in audacity? ...
If you amplify the noise-floor you can hear what you want to hear.

Re: subliminal recording
Audacity's spectrogram view can reveal if there is speech shifted up to inaudible frequencies in "silent" areas.

Even if there is, I doubt anyone's brain can understand it.

Re: Controlling the volume of effects
In using effects, I was unable to control the dry vs wet mix of the effect. In other word, the volume of the effect itself. One or two of them had dry volume controls, but most did not. How do I control the mix of the effect into a select track (mono)? Can duplicate the track, ("Ctrl"+&qu...

Re: The simple, simple stuff.
I bought one of those USB cassette capture devices. It came with Audacity. I want to transfer some old tapes to my computer, VIA the USB cable, however... I can't find any information, anywhere, on how to do that. Very frustrating. Audacity manual: Recording with USB turntables or USB cassette decks
