Re: How to cut amplitude?

If you're not trying to fix clipping, maybe you're looking for a waveshaper . https ://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=waveshaper+VST This does seems to get results I need. Is there an Audacity plugin ? Waveshapers are creative tools to make sound weird, they're not designed for repairs to mak...

Re: How to cut amplitude?

When sound is above 0.9 I would like randomly cut that amplitude and some part I would like to make it like a sine curve. So one part above 0.9 amp would be like a line but transformed into a sine or some other curve. If you're not trying to fix clipping, maybe you're looking for a waveshaper . htt...

Re: MP4 video audio recorded to WAV or ?

... Some volume change but I see different spots of clipping that don't make sense? The lower volume track (MP4 top) has clips in other locations then the higher volume track (bottom recorded in)? I would think they would be in same locations ... Transcoding to a lossy format can create clipping wh...

Re: Please check sound quality and advise

To be honest, I can hardly hear any difference between the before and after deesser voice samples. Probably my ear is not trained enough :-/ The whistling esses are between 6kHz & 9kHz. It's possible your headphones/speakers are not accurately reproducing those high-frequencies. It's possible t...

Re: Please check sound quality and advise

''hello this is my Second attempt'', before-after, DeEssing & DeClicking.wav There's a free DeClicker plugin in at the bottom of the post where the free DeEsser plugin is . Store-bought de-esser & de-clicker plugins are available, they can be faster than Paul-L's freebies, but can be co...

Re: Please check sound quality and advise

@Trebor - thanks! Do you think I am the one making too loud s noises? I think my s sounds very whistling I think so too. De-esser plugins can cure it ... https://wikipedia.org/wiki/De-essing I am training myself to make it sound smoother. IMO excessive-sibilance is not fixable by attempting change ...

Re: Please check sound quality and advise

IMO the main problem is excessive sibilance: the "s" sounds are too loud. There is a free plugin for Audacity which will fix the problem: a de-esser . Step #1. RMS Normalize the audio to -19dB. Step #2. Apply these de-esser pluging settings ... suggested DeEsser settings.png ''pleaSe tell ...

Re: Compressor settings for live music w/ a few sharp peaks

... I'm rather new to editing audio and I don't know what the best settings for the effect are, given my situation. Would it be possible for someone to recommend the best settings to use for editing live music when there are a handful of tall peaks in volume? Those "tall [drum] peaks" are...

I have a sound file with unique parts that are too quiet. I can boost the specific parts manually ...
Dynamic range compression (with make-up gain) will do that automatically.
