Re: Visible waveform but no sound
I forgot to mention that the mp3 files created from the Audacity project showed that they had the amount of data that comparable files do. To re-iterate: Volume and wave meters show normal appearance for recorded sound. Track is silent until the middle of the track when sound comes on. How is this p...

waveform shows recording but there's no sound
OS X 10.11.6 Audacity 2.3.2 A stereo track. Waveform looks like it always does. Everything is set as it always has been and has always worked. Silence. Then as the quick play cursor moves along the sound starts. Nothing shows as having changed.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Re: Visible waveform but no sound
Sorry to violate the rules. I'm on OS X with the exact same problem. Waveform shows a recording but there's no sound until a little further along in the track the sound starts. It's one track, everything is properly set, nothing appears different after the sound starts. The question is: how does the...

recording youtube audio
I would like to record a YouTube stream of an audiobook - Catch 22 read by Wolfram Kandinsky. This is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yJJNcloGMg I was hoping that anyone so inclined would take a quick listen and see if there might be some simple ways to clean up the sound and if so, wheth...

Hello Koz,
It looks like I never thanked you for your very helpful and complete reply to my question. I'm painfully embarrassed because I really value good manners - you know, they help make the world a bit more pleasant. So my apologies and sincere thank you. Peter

audiobook recording - is recording in mono a good idea?
I apologize if this has been answered elsewhere. I've spent an hour or two trying unsuccessfully to get an answer. I'm recording from streaming stereo audiobooks played on an Asus ZenPad 8 purchased in October of this year. I'm recording through the microphone input on a MacMini3,1 from late 2009, O...

Re: Tinny, hollow sound of Audacity files...
I use a Mac mini and a Technic LP player with a Pioneer receiver. Do you have the turntable connected to the "Phono-In" of the receiver? Did you connect the thin black third turntable wire to the receiver ground screw? It sounds like you connected to Tuner-In, Line-In, or Tape-In of the amplifier i...

Tinny, hollow sound of Audacity files...
When I burn an AIFF exported from Audacity to iTunes on a Staples CD-R the sound is tinny or weak when played on a home or car cd player. I had to adjust bass and treble controls to max. Still didn't sound right and of course I shouldn't have to do that. Songs downloaded from iTunes and songs transf...
