Blue Yeti or Rode Podcaster?
Hello, I bought a Blue Yeti a while ago and it's great. Compared to what I was using it was a HUGE step in the right direction. However lately I've been feeling it's possibly a little TOO sensitive. I record gameplay commentaries for videogames on youtube and the yeti does a bang up job but I think ...

Re: Can someone make this clip sound better?
So no EQ or anything then? It's possible to substantially reduce the background hum noise if you paste the code below in Audacity's [ IMO apply the notch filters and noise-reduction before applying any dynamic-range-compression ] Damn that tweaked version you linked sounds much nicer than regular n...

Re: Can someone make this clip sound better?
I know where you got 120 from (in the US), where did you get the other numbers -- or is this a custom series for that one clip...? We're all beating about the bush. The poster really wants the equalizer sequence so he can sound like Don LaFontaine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJMGS7l0wT8 We have...

Thanks man. I always had trouble knowing which compressor settings to use.

Can someone make this clip sound better?
I have a short clip from an upcoming commentary for youtube and I was wondering if someone here could take it put it in audacity and tweak it to make it sound a bit better and then let me know what settings you used? Cos I am having a hard time finding the sweet spot. Here is the clip: http://www.me...

Re: Blue Yeti and recording tips, levels, advice etc.
Ahhh so you're saying to remove my voice bouncing off the table into the mic so to speak? I will definitely try out different soft materials underneath. There is also a wooden wall about a foot to the left of the mic and about 2 feet to the back of it which could cause some nasty reflections too

Re: Blue Yeti and recording tips, levels, advice etc.
Damn you're right. All this time I was using my Beyerdynamics to mix and edit and they do have a natural bass boost effect in general and I never thought it could have affected the sound. I EQ'd like you suggested and it sounded boomy as hell and when I listened on crappier headphones with a neutral...

Re: Blue Yeti and recording tips, levels, advice etc.
Wow awesome post, thanks for the tips and feedback. I think my voice naturally isn't particularly deep so I can't get that extra bit of bass without becoming too boomy. The mic is most definitely on Carioid and yeah I keep hoping to get that deeper effect when I lean in and get kind of annoyed when ...

Blue Yeti and recording tips, levels, advice etc.
Hey guys, I've been getting pretty heavily into recording videogames with commentary and was looking for some advice on recording settings. I have a Blue Yeti USB mic and it sounds great but I think it could sound even better with some tweaks like positioning and levels/gain etc. Right now I record ...
