Re: Comparing Noise Removal/Reduction between 2.0.6 and 2.1.
Hi Paul I had similar thoughts while listening to the podcast. Good that you've commented on this. I've still have a bad feeling about the frequency smoothing. It should imo be logarithmic and not linear.I' ve just made a test with a buzz tone at 100 Hz and 60 harmonics. The noise profile is taken ...

Re: Comparing Noise Removal/Reduction between 2.0.6 and 2.1.
Btw, a pity that Daniel hasn't more talked about the spectral selection and its related tools. Perhaps something for another podcast. Robert For one thing, it is hard to demonstrate in a podcast, of course. For another, it appears from his brief remarks at 21:50 that Daniel is himself unfamiliar wi...

I've still have a bad feeling about the frequency smoothing. It should imo be logarithmic and not linear I'm having trouble with "Frequency Smoothing" and "Sensitivity". I don't know how to advise people about these controls other than "leave them at their default settings" (which defeats the point...

Comparing Noise Removal/Reduction between 2.0.6 and 2.1.0
Thanks to Daniel Lewis for reviewing version 2.1.0 so promptly at this podcast: http://theaudacitytopodcast.com/whats-new-in-audacity-2-1-0-tap216/#disqus_thread Discussion of noise reduction goes from about 6:50 to 16:30. Also that page contains three audio clips, one "before" and two "afters" comp...

Re: Automatic removal of mouth smacks
... It would be VERY HELPFUL if somebody would come up with a mouth noise filter that would remove just the clicks and rumbles! :D In 2014 Paul-L made a filter for Audacity which removes clicks ... http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=79278&p=245549 Indeed I did. But you ain't seen no...

Re: Reassigned spectrograms -- preliminary results!
Reassignment and padding factor 8 yield this picture: Zero padding 8 reassigned.png A zoomed view of the last: Zoomed.png We see that when frequency resolution is very fine, the zoomed-out view may no longer indicate peak frequencies in white. That is because, when the vertical extent of one pixel c...

Reassigned spectrograms -- preliminary results!
If you vary the Window size in spectrogram preferences, you soon discover the tradeoff between time resolution (which is better with smaller windows) and frequency resolution. The "reassignment" method for sharpening spectrogram displays is one way to escape the tradeoff between time and frequency r...

Re: Can you give me some direction on this raw audio file?
She is building a decent fan base. T-shirts? Baseball caps? Koz I think she was really hoping for her own action figure and bobble head doll, but her husband drew the line there and said it was creepy. One can always dream. I am at that point where my real job is keeping me from recording. I am hop...

If this is ACX then the standard contract stipulates a fifteen minute initial installment for review.
