Re: Only microphone as recording device on W10
OK, finally got it to work, but it is a kludge. First you will need to download the last drivers I can find that will work with Audacity and still give you 5.1 sound on your Asus G75VW notebook. The last drivers I have found that work are VIA 6.0.01.10600. You will also need to download the new Micr...

Re: Only microphone as recording device on W10
or it could just be the page has not been updated. https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?72299-G75VW-VIA-AUDIO-WINDOWS-10-Work-Around https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1V-DmkkMP0 Both of these show how to get the audio working again and say that it is the only problem with Windows 10. Sadly neith...

Re: Only microphone as recording device on W10
Thank you Gale, but where on that page does it say it does not support Windows 10? Microsoft compatibility advisor said it works fine and indeed it is working fine apart from the audio. A search reveals that it is a common problem caused by VIA not being in any hurry to support their past customers....

Only microphone as recording device on W10
I am using Audacity 2.1.2. I just upgraded it after upgrading to Windows 10. I have just upgraded to Windows 10 and I had some problems with the VIA audio chipset on the integrated soundcard for my Asus G75VW laptop. It has 2.1 sound and the recommended drivers sounded horrible as there were no low ...

Re: I cannot get the volume as high as I used to?
Thank you very much for your questions! 1. Both the recording level and the playback volume were significantly lower until I raised everything by 6dB in the equalizer to compensate. 2. Sorry, it had not occurred to me to play back a previous recording. The size of the waveform is normal on the displ...

I cannot get the volume as high as I used to?
Hi all, I am sorry, I need your sage advice again as this one has me baffled. I am using version 2.05 and have been since it was released. I have not changed Audacity at all. I am using MME, Speakers (VAI High Definition Audio), Stereo mix (VAI High Definition Audio) and 2 (Stereo) Input. I have the...

Re: Tinny sound and predominantly left-of-centre sound
Ragnar - Thank you, thank you , thank you! I and everyone else was right, it was indeed trying to record the sound via the computer's in-built microphones... I could not see how to set it to anything else though? as all the options that there were in Audacity and in Windows made no difference to it....

Re: Tinny sound and predominantly left-of-centre sound
I know the problem now, but not the solution - Please can anyone help??? I said it myself, it sounded like the sound being recorded was like it was being recorded with a microphone in the room. That is exactly what was happening. Audacity is recording the sound heard at the microphones, instead of t...

Re: Tinny sound and predominantly left-of-centre sound
Hi again, I'm recording online audio, just as I always did on the old laptop without problems. Things like interviews with famous people or those who were "there at the right moment" to do something momentous. I have been sure to make sure there is no clipping to avoid distortion. You are right, I'm...

Tinny sound and predominantly left-of-centre sound
Hi all, My apologises, I've read through the FAQs and still can't seem to track this one down. It is probably something really obvious and stupid I'm doing, but I can't seem to narrow it down - I'm sorry! It's a brand new computer as the old laptop's motherboard failed. It's an Asus G75V gaming lapt...
