mixing

Help please. As it is impossible to make changes in Audacity as the music is playing (except for volume) can Audacity be used with an external mixing board to edit in real time? If so has anyone any recommendations about an efficient yet affordable mixing board?

Re: Reverting to earlier version

Well, I am a naive but frequent user, using it to producer multitrack recordings of my music. But I tend to panic when things change out of my comfort zone.

Re: Reverting to earlier version

Thank you so much everyone. I tried out all your recommendations and it now works fine. Yesterday evening I was in despair, as I could not understand what was going on.
The solo button is particularly useful when do vocal harmonises, ...

Re: Reverting to earlier version

Thanks very much for all your answers.
One last question. I came back to this forum to see if there were any replies and could not see any so had go through my history to find my post and your answers. Is there a simpler way of doing this?

Reverting to earlier version

Help please. I updated my version of Audacity yesterday and I find the new version terribly confusing. Whereas before I used to have to outline items (turn them grey) to work on them, everything is grey now and when I highlight them they turn white. When click the record button to overdub it just ca...

Re: STEREO MONO AND OVERDUBBING

Thanks a lot for your very helpful answer. Your are right. it is a Scarlett interface. So that is the problem. I will have a fiddle with that and see if anything happens.

STEREO MONO AND OVERDUBBING

Help please. When I record in Audacity (vocal, guitar, mandolin, acoustic bass guitar), I always end up with the sound coming out of one channel. I have to go to audio track and then switch to mono so the balance is more in middle. When I record two windows open but one remainsempty (I delete it). A...

Re: Latency

Thanks for your answer, Gale. The question I asked yesterday was about not being able to record the click track so as to adjust the latency. Today I managed to figure out how to make it work ( I went into Edit, preferences, devices and changed MME to WASAPI and then (for the "recording" box at the b...

Re: Latency

Funnily enough, I am hardly on the phone during the day. Customers nearly always contact me by e-mail and I am constantly looking up words on the Internet.
