i m new to this stuff, could anyone here please guide me to the best settings i may follow in order to record some old cassette tapes (containing lectures) on to my pc. what about the volume on my tape recorder should i increased it to the full lenght or make it low...

Please help me out, I have no experience in audio editing. I had recorded some old cassettes (containing SPEECHES) using a tape recorder and Audacity on my computer. But after recording, I hear some strange kind of noise in the background which makes the words hardly understandable. Is there any way...
