I'm trying to add "composer" to the default metadata screen. I add a line, type in composer, add a value - it works for that particular recording. BUT I want composer to come up by default. I can't save the template - either by overwriting tags.xml or saving as composer.xml. Saving, load composer.xm...

click removal
Project: burning vinyl to hard drive. Even at its most sensitive settings, Audacity (v 2.0.6; windows 7 64 bit) leaves lots of clicks. I've been using Click Repair - which works well enough for most recordings (24 bit/96KHz). In order to get proper treatment of cymbals & hi-hats, I have been recordi...

Re: comparing disc to digital
Thanks for the input. I'm recording vinyl generally at 24/96,000 - dixieland seems to require 192K to avoid attenuation of hi-hats. May not be scientific, but I've convinced myself the difference is real. Levels are at 50%or less of maximum, never any clipping. Comparing phono with DAC output does r...
bit rate
I've been recording my vinyl in audacity, 24 bit with bit rate set at either 96K or 192K. JRiver Media Center reports these as 4800-4900 for the flac files and 9216 for the wav files. Do these programs define bit-rate differently? Why is JRiver reporting audacity's 192,000 bit rate at 9,216?? thanks...

Using a Soundsmith Hyperion cartridge- Krell phono preamp and preamp, and tape out to a Lyra ADC- (all cables Transparent Reference) I record onto a laptop, and listen via Sennheiser headset/amp. A-B comparisons between phono and the signal from within Audacity showed little difference until i start...

24 bit WAV?
I've been recording my LPs as 24 bit/96000 FLAC files. Now I want to try the "Click Repair" software. "Click Repair" only accepts WAV files - but the only option I have for WAV (Audacity 2.0.5; windows 7, 64 bit) is "WAV signed16 bit PCM". Isnt 24 bit FLAC better than 16 bit PCM? My plan was to reco...

Re: Problem recording 24-bit with Roland Quad-Capture
Several of the entries state that audacity does not ship with ASIO drivers. I just got a Prism Lyra I USB interface/ADC - but it only recognizes asio. The JRiver Media Center player is OK with whatever asio drivers are on the computer - but audacity doesnt recognize any of them. any solutions? thank...

Background noise in vinyl
Recording vinyl produces a band of background noise, seen in the space between bands. This band measures about .1 on the left hand scale.
is it possible to remove this band without doing damage to the music?
