the hiss that wouldn't die
Win 7 64-bit SP1, HP desktop, AMD dual-core CPU with Realtek HD Audio card; Audacity 2.0.2 from the .exe installer: Any time I try to fade in from silence, fade out to silence, use the noise removal tool, or use the silence tool to erase, there's a persistent hiss. (edit: the hiss isn't apparent dur...

Re: SAVING A WAV FILE TO HARD DRIVE
Are you saving it as a .wav file, or are you trying to get a different format (mp3, ogg, etc.)?

Re: Static Help Please
The symptom "it used to work perfectly and now it doesn't" can be put down to your hard drive filling up. Audacity (and most other production programs) will not work into a fragmented or full hard drive. As the drive gets fuller and fuller, it gets harder and harder to maintain real-time data accur...

Re: favorite EQ setting gone?
Perhaps a flea market safari is in order. I can rip from my desktop for CDs, but finding a decent cassette deck (Dolby B and C, with adjustable azimuth for the playback head) will be a hunt. The ones that know what they've got won't part with them easily! Thanks for the XML codes. I've got high reso...

Re: favorite EQ setting gone?
Unfortunately, no. My old Onkyo bit the dust, so all I have is the head unit from an Aiwa "ghetto-blaster" with CD playback and detachable speakers.

Re: Regarding audacity
It is really great! I've even been doing some .wav file cleanup. Recording at home has its' own problems, so I reduce background noise with fade in/out and the "silence" generator. I taught myself how to use it, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Started with version 1.2.1, and I'm sticking with ...

Re: favorite EQ setting gone?
I'm using a TASCAM US-144mkII straight from my turntable, and all it has is a volume control. I'm cramped for space, so that was the best compromise -- the least amount of coloration. I can pretty much account for any capacitance in the cartridge load by adjusting post-EQ, but I'd like to get it in ...

favorite EQ setting gone?
I use my Audacity for many purposes: wav file editing, pre-mastering and converting analog audio to mp3. I've noticed that some of my favorite equalization presets in the legacy versions are no longer available in 2.x: the vinyl restoration curves with "RIAA", "Decca", "FFRR", "RCA 1945", etc. Have ...
