Re: I think I blew it!
If I export to .wav files can I still go back and edit all 16 channels separately? Does it still work like a project?

I was very relieved to see that audacity had some temp files and I choose not to delete. Heres where it gets stupid...

Re: Stops recording every few seconds
I looked into the DMA issue and I did not see any settings for the hard drive. I thought DMA was for optical drives. I did notice however that write caching was not enabled on the laptop and it was enabled on the compaq. Would this make a difference in the performance to that extreme?

Re: Stops recording every few seconds
O.K. I tried another old computer. This one had a slightly better spec and a good result. I was able to open all 16 channels and record without any glitching or stopping. I don't know if there is a faster drive available for this laptop. Does the drive need to be defragmented if it has just been formatted? It did the same thing on th...

Re: Only 2 channels of audio allowed?
Hello, I seem to be having a similar problem with only two channels allowed. I am running xp home sp1 and a dell inspiron 1100 laptop with firewire card installed for an alesis multimix 16. This gives me 16 channels on the stable version of audacity. I switched to the beta to see if the new record t...
