Re: Computer crashed while Audacity was running
I'm no programmer so forgive me if this is already how Audacity works, but if it didn't delete temp files automatically and wrote an open-ended .aup file (or whatever the project file name is) in such a way that the file wasn't corrupted if Audacity crashed, recovery would be trivial I would think.

Re: Computer crashed while Audacity was running
Using the info from the wiki page, the Audacity Recovery Tool in conjunction with the xplorer2lite utility I was able to recover everything (after using a file recovery tool to restore the deleted files) and ultimately have a .wav of the whole deal. I'm no programmer, but it would really be nice to ...

Computer crashed while Audacity was running
I was recording today and things were going fine. Half way through the last song I plugged in my thumbdrive to save the project to and when I looked back at the screen, the computer had done a hard freeze. Audacity wasn't moving, and the mouse was unresponsive. Rebooted and Audacity says the last pr...

Re: CAN'T OPEN SAVE PROJECT
Did you try to open the .aup file that represents the project itself? Or the individual data files? You don't want to open the .au files.

Re: Larger dynamic range without distortion
I'm currently using a Dell Latitude D630 and it does query you (at least in Vista) as to what device is plugged into the audio-in jack when you insert a plug. Options include mic and line-in. With the input level slider in the sound mixer (in Vista) set to 10 on a scale of 0 - 100, the sound is undi...

Re: Larger dynamic range without distortion
The origional (undistorted after Vista sound mixer adjustment) recording looks like this: http://images.ttyr2.com/albums/Audio%20Recording/origional.jpg After trying the Normalize filter as you suggested: http://images.ttyr2.com/albums/Audio%20Recording/normalized.jpg I don't lose any quality by *no...

Re: Larger dynamic range without distortion
On the origional recording that had a lot of clipping, the wave form in Audacity wasn't very large but was very clipped. When I back off the Vista sound mixer input level, the clipping goes away, but the sound wave in Audacity stays very small, and isn't using anywhere near the full volume range tha...

Larger dynamic range without distortion
I've been greatly enjoying Audacity. Currently using it to record church music. I dialed back the audio level in the mixer in Vista so that the sound isn't distorting in Audacity but now the level is pretty low in the program. I can do a select-all and choose amplify, and in this one case it applied...

Save UI layout
Is there a way to have Audacity save the control layout so that I don't have to drag the "VU" meters and such around every time I open it? A casual glance at other posts didn't turn up a quick answer.
