Re: LP Rip with Distortion at the end of side one
@Waxcylinder: I think rumour-control needs a reality check here - not under discussion or even consideration AFAIK Ok and out of interest, you are only the second person I have seen using 'AFAIK.' The first was my sw guru colleague. The problem with USB is that it sometimes struggles to keep up wth ...

Re: Audacity Recording Freeze at 38m 47.5s: Win7
@Gale: If Dennis wants to try a build with IMAGE_FILE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE set to yes and enable 4GT for himself, I could make such a build as an experiment, though I don't see why it would help crashes when Audacity isn't using anything like that amount of RAM, which I think is true for Dennis. Of c...

Re: LP Rip with Distortion at the end of side one
@Steve: You appear to have made up your mind, and I am of no mind to argue. I am not arguing; It is called a technical discussion. I have backed up my opinion with the view of a respected (by his industrial peers) colleague who, I think, happens to be a damn good engineer. I could not know what he w...

Re: LP Rip with Distortion at the end of side one
Steve: Many thanks for your input, most detailed and informative, and for the links. It really is very much appreciated. I have not looked at the links yet as my time today has been spent researching this reply. @otwo_pipes: I think you are far to quick to blame USB @Steve: USB is notorious for this...

Re: Audacity Recording Freeze at 38m 47.5s: Win7
I raised this post and the problem is Audacity Freeze with audio cache enabled. I did not bother replying to the memory limit originally asserted because:- i) My system only has 2GB ii) My Win7 system was using around 300-500MB of RAM so there was oddles to do whatever Audacity required iii) Recordi...

@Gale:
I have also seen an occasional pop up window with exception errors which is then accompanied by the recording freeze.BTW when I was testing the above on Win 7 x64 (newer machine) with Cache on, I got exception errors every time with Minimum Free Memory set to .....

Re: occasional noise
Hi Sombunya: You might find it interesting to read my post at http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=66697 In there I have written:- @otwo_pipes: I have heard distortion when I started ripping, not severe distortion but certainly audible, just like sibilance. Not knowing what to do I jus...

Re: LP Rip with Distortion at the end of side one
I have just posted:- I have heard distortion when I started ripping, not severe distortion but certainly audible, just like sibilance. Not knowing what to do I just pressed Audacity Stop followed by Record and the sibilance disappeared. I do not know what this says. and in the post entilted 'Occasio...
