Re: occasional noise

@PGA: There's a big difference between "copying" data via USB connections and "recording" data over a USB connection. The former is done asynchronously to real time. The latter has to be done in true real time. Agreed Any delay will cause some sort of problem in real-time mode. True but, and this is...

Re: Transferring my LP's but Audacity slo-mo's the music!

@Rycher: ...isotope RX2 advanced for restoration I am undertaking exactly the same task as you and I have around 800 LP's to import (about 300 completed). I have looked at restoration sw and Isotope RX2 is high on my list. Do you have any useful feedback on Isotope RX2 you could pass on to myself an...

Re: occasional noise

@Steve: I know we may never agree on this one but I have just copied 492GB of data, my LP album recording files, to my external USB hard drive. As I have two drives for backup this operation was actually performed twice and I have not seen any issues or the dreaded USB sync problem. I would have tho...

Re: Transferring my LP's but Audacity slo-mo's the music!

Been there done that myself :( My error was not have consistency throughout. My situation is a little more complicated because I am using an external ADC. I quickly resolved my error and as it was ages ago my memory is a little hazy but I believe I set the capture rate in preferences to 96kHz and ma...

Re: Reaching for Highest Quality possible in Audacity

@Koz: A good quality stereo alternative is the UCA-202 that we frequently recommend. You may like to add the following link to your recommendation for the UCA-202:- http://nwavguy.blogspot.co.uk/2011/02/behringer-uca202-review.html I have not read the complete review but I do agree with what he says...

Re: LP Rip with Distortion at the end of side one

@'Steve: An issue that I really don't want to bring up (again), but it is relevant, is that there is no benefit to recording in 24 bit with any release build of Audacity on Windows because PortAudio (the library that acts as an intermediary between Audacity and the computer sound system) only passes...

But if someone joins the discussion who has 4 GB system RAM or more...........
Okay, if we both put this one on the 'back burner' when I upgrade my desktop we can revisit the issue.

Re: LP Rip with Distortion at the end of side one

Thanks for the info but my workload with ripping is so onerous I decided a long time ago to only rip. I can easily process with CR, or any other sw, when I am based in Thailand after all, I will need something to do :)
Thanks for the info; it is much appreciated.

Re: Playing LPs faster ?

'Waxcylinder: P.S. A lot of Lps have been re-issued as CDs, so if you can get a cheap-ish CD copy that's way easier than doing the LP transcription. All you have to watch out for is that some aof the re-issues are "re-mastered" to make them sound "louder" - and this is not always an improvement. Abs...

Re: occasional noise

@Sombunya
I let it go for about 10 seconds, stopped and then un-did the recording, started the record over and started a new recording, noise-free.
Next time this occurs please toggle 'Pause' i.e. Pause and un-Pause the recording to see if this also removes the noise problem.
