Re: What to Edit with?! Speakers, Headphones, and What Type?
Hey great feedback--appreciate that. Yes I've concluded as well--the headphone's is better. -As far as good equipment to start[!]--have to wait on that-- -My headphones are MDR-XD100/SONY, and with catch words like "Studio Monitor Series headphones" they's is better--and possibly this 'experiment' m...

What to Edit with?! Speakers, Headphones, and What Type?

Recommended Ratio Settings for the Compressor
What is the recommended ratio to use for compressing talk; and also vocals accompanied by acoustic guitar, and just acoustic guitar? It seems if you go too high past 2:1 it starts to become too harsh. I would guess lower better but of course if you want to compress more you have to go higher (3:1, 4...

Re: What is the standard RMS value for music?
The pauses in voice recordings shouldn't alter the RMS value too much, i.e. push them down. Not from my experience.. They were definitely resulting in lower RMS values [Like -25 as opposed to guitar vocals -15--and I know they're off because if I adjusted them to be the same (RMS), the talk tracks ...

Re: What is the standard RMS value for music?
There's an 1-hour version already in the wave-stats topic (one of the last posts). Overall peak, positive and negative as well are already integrated. Rms normalization is easy: If the plug-in shows -27 and you want -20 dB FS, amplify by 7 dB. You have probably to check "Allow Cliping". Use a Limit...

25 SECOND SOUND SAMPLE - ANALYZERS' COMPARISON TEST (In Audacity 2.0.5) [25 seconds chosen because unlike RMS Buddy, Wave Stats is AS OF THIS WRITING limited to 30 seconds; All figures are decibels]: Analyzer 1: "Wave Stats..." (stats.ny, an add on plug-in that loads to the Analyze menu). Results: ...

Re: What is the standard RMS value for music?
I haven't thought to test them on equal par --per a same 30 second sample. Will do ASAP. Please do, I'd be very interested. NEXT POST (scroll down) I like the ability to check the whole song as opposed to being limited by a 30 second sample maximum. A bit of background: I wrote stats.ny for a speci...
