Re: My thoughts on music share sites:

YouTube? For music quality? First of all you have to figure out how to make a video with high quality audio. ok say you do that--then you upload it to youtube and what happens? does it stay HQ or do they compress--im pretty sure they compress (they conveniently don't share that info/last I checked)-...

Re: My band's new song using audacity!

How did you remove the hiss? I wasn't clear on that--I assumed with EQ? I don't see how you could stand listening to the finished version you posted? Right! Horrble--But I've been listening to my stuff in old country blues mixes on my Sansa Clip--so compared to old recordings like Bessie Smith--they...

My thoughts on musician share sites:

SoundCloud is the best I've found so far- because you can upload a full WAV file as opposed to being limited to a compressed/compromised MP3- and the player works! As opposed to ReverbNation with it's 8 MB MP3 limit and player that hasn't been working right for the past few months (That's unacceptab...

Equalizers effect on volume, quality, and tone

Question 1: In regards to EQ adjustments I've always read decreasing is better than increasing (for less distortion). Is this true? Question 2: In this example, is.. "decreasing bass -6db, mid -3db, leaving treble 0, then setting volume to -18rms" exactly the same as "decreasing bass -3db, leaving m...

Re: My band's new song using audacity!

here's my latest hacked ipod edit (of a song I improvised)--- ugg. it came in clipped---I EQed and rms-ed to -18.7. the EQ seemed to put a lot of hiss in--but without it sounded so flat!! --yes need better equipment--donations appreciated---all advice appreciated 2. happy listening--and listen to t...

Re: What is the standard RMS value for music?

Yes, no-one, on that thread, or elsewhere I've found seems to want to be specific about RMS or any other possible consistent loudness method or standard(s). Although, that thread, particularly about the third entry by "Massive Mastering" delved the deepest I've seen so far online on the subject. MM ...

Re: My band's new song using audacity!

This is a cool idea (this category). Per Eighth Day Broken: Not sure how anyone gets good sound on Youtube/ not bad though.. I think YouTube compresses the hell out of everything --so you'll lose there. Although 'everyone's doin' it' and killing high quality music at the same time -imo
