Re: What are "EQ Curves for old recordings" for?
Okay--This is a pivotal song in music history and it has the 1930's sound--because it was recorded in 1936[!]. I like the sound of the old records like this--not sure why. BUT I found (only) one plugin (iZotope) that took the challenge of creating a tool to re-create these old record's sound--AND I ...

Re: Voice and Guitar Together
What about using two mics, strategically placed? I assume that would record stereo ( left mic/right mic). Then you could seperate that to two mono tracks for editing[?]. Personally I've yet to be able to experiment with two mics!! But for one mic--with guitar/vocals (live) you sort of get the feel a...

Re: What are "EQ Curves for old recordings" for?
Thanks Gale.. Well I didn't really read the ins and outs of what to post--just the top/main categories  --and try to get as close as possible (will try harder!--read more--I know). BUT coincidentally--since the EQ curves are NOT what I thought--then requesting --here now [X]. EQ curves that m...

Re: Editing a Compressed File (Sound) (Is it damaging to do
I think I knew dat./yeah, I knew that.. my questions weren't really about that as much as about the editing of a compressed 'song'. About uncompressing and editing compressed songs/or sounds in general. (I tried to search the topic but found no thing really-). Like to find info--on in's and out's of...

What are "EQ Curves for old recordings" for?
I downloaded these curves below and was wondering are they designed to make a song sound old? "EQ Curves for old recordings The 1.2 version of Audacity had a number of EQ curves for electrical 78 rpm discs and early pre-RIAA LP's which are not offered in current Audacity. If you need these curves ag...

Editing a Compressed File (Sound) (Is it damaging to do so?)
Can a compressed file be uncompressed and then edited without damage?
Would using the compressor effect on the edit be damaging?
Would exporting either as WAV or MP3 matter as well?
Is this the right section to post this?
Thanks.

Re: Assistance with hiss diagnosis
HISS HAPPENS (esp. with cheap rec. equip.--I know). That being said, one fix I've found is the Audacity Noise Removal effect, which has been tightened up on the new version (2.0.6) -- Read the help/manual, which gives specific advice/recommended settings for the NR effect in regards to hiss.
