Re: Do I need to get rid of these clips?
I know, it's a pain isn't it. In my opinion the scale should be shown at the bottom as well as at the top.
yup...that's why I thought the only one that mattered was the top........ie, no numbers at the bottom equals not important . I've read that doing an EFFECT>INVERT doesn't alter ...

Re: Do I need to get rid of these clips?

ah..... so your saying that the audio is already at max volume, based on observing the waveform at the bottom ????? If my understanding of what your saying, that is obviously the knowledge gap that I was missing. So I've been mistaken in looking at the top of the scale.....I should be observing the ...

Re: Do I need to get rid of these clips?

OK...my brain is on a serious vacation here...I'm missing some concept or other.... Looking at the wave form of the entire song of that attachment shows the peaks around -5 dB. Steve was right in that the red line disappeared when I did a Amplify of -1, both the top & bottom of the waveform contract...

Do I need to get rid of these clips?

Using Audacity 2.01 to digitize my LPs. I think I'm following the instructions correctly. After recording the LP & saving the project file, I run a HP filter for subsonic noise, then send the wave to Click Repair. My records are coming in around -5 dB on the meter. As the last edit I want to amplify...

Re: Playing LPs faster ?

........snip.........you can set the TT switch to ON and the Phono/Line switch to Line, and I assume that these are the two alternative that you are comparing in your other post. In each case, you need to set the sampling rate of the UFO 202 to 44.1kHz. It would be interesting to make a third compa...

Re: Playing LPs faster ?

The short answer is that: 44.1 kHz is the standard for CDs (44.1kHz 16-bit PCM Stereo) 48.0 kHz is the standard for DVDs So if you are planning to produce only CDs and your kit will support 44.1kHz then it is best to stick with that throughout the recording/editing/export process - otherwise you ar...

Re: Comparing Sony TT preamp & Behringer's

The simple answer is: use whichever sounds best to you ;) And the slightly more complicated answer is that your ears may prefer different devices for different types of music .... :geek: WC No way I'm picking Door #2...staying with steve's answer. ;) Listened to 2 songs (did simple Audacity tweaks ...

Re: Playing LPs faster ?

Hey, I apologize for not responding earlier....... I didn't know this thread had continued since I mistakenly thought I would get notified on any further posts. Just realized the user preference defaults to not getting the emails ..... first I've seen it default to that on boards. (unless I was in a...

Comparing Sony TT preamp & Behringer's

I had to get a new TT to get my LPs into digital. Picked up a inexpensive Sony PS-LX 250H in addition to the UFO 202 I got earlier. I wanted to determine which had the better pre-amp. I did a 1 minute recording of my 60s, Bob Dylan The Times They are A-Changin' . Since I'm brand new at this, I can o...
