But, I don't get the problem with 1.3.6 and an older version of Lame...go figure?

Re: 1.3.8 Still Making Muddy MP3's

ok so the WAV is good - I know you need 128, but just for an experiment try exporting the same project as MP3 at 192 and at 256.WC At 192 I hear a wee bit of the warble but not as much as the 128k version. The 256 was fine. I compared them to the version that I did with 1.3.6 and the older Lame_enc...

Re: 1.3.8 Still Making Muddy MP3's

What MP3 bitrate are you using for your exports? 128k Constant. That is what I need for both SoundClick and MySpace If you export a WAV file does that sound muddy too? Nope, that is fine. I first had this problem with 1.3.6, using the 3.98 version of Lame. So I tried 1.3.7 with the 3.98.2 version o...

1.3.8 Still Making Muddy MP3's

I just installed 1.3.8 and tested it out and it's got the same problem with warbling and muddying up MP3 files as did 1.3.7. I'm starting to think that the problem is in the Lame decoder file (which I did down load a fresh copy of)

I'm still on 9 here (I use WinAmp for my audio stuff and everything works fine with that). I'll have to get WMP 10 and try it

Re: Exported wav file won't play in Windows Media Player

I just tried it here. I record with Audacity (1.3.6), do all my track editing in there, then export the tracks as 24 bit WAV files, import them into Cubase SE for mixing, then I use Audacity to make the MP3 and 16 WAV for my demo CD's. The final tracks play fine in WMP. The raw exported WAV files (2...

Re: Unable to use other builds of lame_enc.dll

Hmm - I just read through http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=8488 and I don't see anything there relating to my problem/question. Well that just about some of the MP3 problems in general I have three different builds of LAME / lame_enc.dll. All three of them are version 3.98.2, but ...

Re: Unable to use other builds of lame_enc.dll

Okay, so you're saying it's just an issue with Audacity 1.3.7 then, and not by design? In that case, I guess I will just have to wait for the final version of Audacity which hopefully will work properly with all builds of LAME. I guess I'll try 1.3.6 in the meantime. Actually it was designed that w...

Re: Unable to use other builds of lame_enc.dll

That's something they just did in 1.3.7. I have had problems with the LAME encoder (I posted a few song samples) where it was really messing with the sound. I'm back to using LAME 3.9.6 with Audacity 1.3.6 for the time being. That seems to work fine (1.3.7 has a whole bunch of problems going on, bes...

Re: rec* (s/m mixes come out realy louder n clearly off cent

well I ain't using 1.3.7 yet till all the yelling and screaming dies down. That could be a wise move :D Well once I saw the MP3 conversion was hosed up again, that was a deal killer for me with 1.3.7. Have a look at "Timidity+". Set it up with a nice sound font (such as "Fluid") and you can get exc...
