Re: A more accessible way to set up latency correction
The user sees two main aspects of latency: 1. The latency while listening to the input in real time (play through) 2. Latency after recording--the track is shifted The first point is pure prediction and is not our concern at this point. The second one is a question of proper measurement as I do see...

Re: Successful build??
How about copying those files from the Unicode to the release folder?
I'm even more lazy and copy the xwidgets files directly from the installed Audacity folder.

Re: disability help
An interesting project. Alas, it's beyond Audacity's capabilities. At least, it would be to cumbersome for the user. Let's take the simple case of sounds --> words (as text output). As Koz already said, the text had first to be recorded before the actual analysis. That's a thing one could live with....

Re: A more accessible way to set up latency correction
The time shift or rather another alignment command, does not appeal to me, mostly because it is not flexible enough. Vocals often start after some seconds intro. Absolutely, it could only be an "option" for "automatic" correction, as I said. But it would work with the suggestion...

Re: Recording dialogue in the wilderness
... The last two stages are the stereo center alone and all that has been deleted (i.e. the side channels). sample2 excerpt , 4stages.mp3 That's a very clean centre-isolation : I can't hear any digital artifacts , is that rjh-stereo-tool.ny ? [ I use kn0ck0ut for that which usually adds some artifa...

Re: Recording dialogue in the wilderness
How do you mean sounds outside the center? What is the center and how can it be located on the track? The center is the part of the sound that's directly in front of the stereo microphone. The device is most often such placed that the speakers are in the center. A bird that sings from the left can ...

Re: A more accessible way to set up latency correction
BUMP: can I just archive this thread - or is there an idea that can be expressed succinctly that I could transfer to Wiki>PFR with a link back to the archived thread. Advice please. There are three "features" to vote on: Polishing and Wiki-publishing Robert's plug-in to measure time diffe...

Re: Recording dialogue in the wilderness
I've got an error (404) while opening the links.
The source location is as far helpful as sounds outside the center can be attenuated separetly.

Re: selection
Use 'Shift A' to stop and move the cursor to the stop position. '[' sets the selection start and ']' the end. The playback won't be stopped by these keys, use space instead. Point labels on the fly 'Ctrl M', 'Ctrl B' is for already selected regions. I never use pause (most actions are greyed out for...

Re: How to measure the dynamic range ?
Unfortunately no-one has yet posted a preset for A-weighting, but if you read the section about presets you may be able to work out how to do that - give a shout if you need help. I am pretty sure that there's already such a preset (A-weighted) in this forum, leastways I've installed it some time a...
