Re: Optimal settings for a great sounding ringtone?

Moreover, if you have the possibility, record the file while it is playing on your phone. This enables us to compare the two frequency spectra. It would be even better if you'd played a file that contains only white noise or a broad chirp. Also, you can control if a mono file sounds better than the ...

Re: Support edit controller

According to the web site, our developers could contact the crew there for a Audacity specific implementation.
Controller integration would be a nice feature in general. It hasn't to be a commercial one; do-it-yourself is not everyone's taste though.

..., if text-to-speech programs that sounded halfway comprehensible didn't cost an arm and a leg, I'd probably just go with one of those. There are free online text-to-speech converters , some realistic, some a bit "Stephen Hawking" ... ''Nothing against,,,''.wav :) Microsoft Windows does...

Re: Noise Reduction Algorithm - Papers/References?

Can I find audacity Noise Removal code in "C" any where? Audacity is mostly programmed in C++. The source code for the Noise Removal effect is here: http://http//audacity.googlecode.com/svn/audacity-src/trunk/src/effects/NoiseRemoval.cpp Why do I feel like I'm repeating myself? Yeah, and ...

Re: Integrated Dynamic Range (DR) measurment tool

Thank you Koz, it is interesting, as usual. I have to check where I've seen this comparison of loudness recommendations. Strange enough, The (mostly german-speaking) TV industry has adapted the -23 LUFS (or better, the gradual transition toward it) in 2012. I remember the announcement some 3 or 4 ye...

Re: Integrated Dynamic Range (DR) measurment tool

You're certainly right Steve. DR14 is a pre-R128 experimental tool to fight the loudness war. The promotion (led by the mentioned website) doesn't seem to have succeeded in this form. This gets obvious when we see that the foobar2000 add-on expired in 2011. The initiator Tischmeyer admits that the t...

Re: Integrated Dynamic Range (DR) measurment tool

Update: I've just listened to a 1-hour interview with Friedemann Tischmeyer in a german radio show. It is about the loudness war and also about the DR Meter. It seems that the mentioned 10000 values in 3 s mean: The 16 bit, 44.1 kHz input signal's RMS values are quantized to 0.01 dB and this gives a...

Re: Colorful noise algorithm

I've not yet tested your code. All I can say for now is that the two snd-fetch commands are not necessary since you do not make use of the original values (from the silent track in the project). You can of course do some randomization with real audio values (as seed or direction probability) in whic...

Re: Integrated Dynamic Range (DR) measurment tool

by gathering approximately 10,000 pieces of loudness information within a time span of 3 seconds (dB/RMS). Surely that can't be right? It is written as such in https://www.dropbox.com/sh/b4avsqc8oyd5c58/6ccq24vPUt However, it makes no sense to take rms values over 13 samples... I can only say that ...

Re: Karaoke, Rotation, Panning & more

I just tried this out and it works perfectly to do exactly what it's supposed to. This is a total power tool for mashup artists. Awesome, perfect, thanks so much! :D Thanks very much for the laurels. Feel free to propose any effects/modifications that could facilitate your work flow. Note that the ...
