Re: Meeting ACX Requirements w/ Audacity
That's the raw version and the clicks are more prominent after raising the Rms by 10 dB via limitation. Take the short sample file with some isolated clicks earlier in this thread. Use the change speed effect (-50 %) twice. You'll here 2 clicks (or rather knocks now) before "I", 3 after t...

Re: Meeting ACX Requirements w/ Audacity
Listening on my 2010 Mac Mini with OS volume slider set at mid point, Sony MDR v6 headphones, I can't hear the tiny clicks Robert points out @ 2:10 (15take1again.wav). I can hear them maxing out the volume slider but it's not loud enough to distract or irritate. That's the raw version and the click...

Re: Analyze and then Process Question
You can return sound from a analyse plug-in as well.
It's just the question if you use more the analysing or the processing part of the plug-in.
It is often convenient to display additional or "Analyze" information on the debug screen.

Re: Best Way to Bandsplit Audio
Hi, I often find myself wanting to apply processing to specific frequency bands. I was wondering what is the best way to split a track into separate tracks containing different frequency bands so that it can be recombined with minimal artifacts? Cheers, Chris The first step is to duplicate the trac...

Re: Undoing Compressor
I've just tested with audacity-win-r13103-2.0.6-alpha-20-may-14 on Windows XP (in Virtualbox). The file name is: sc4_1882.dll The ratio is expressed as 1:n but it is definitely a compressor. You're certainly right. However, it does not act the way I thought it would. I've tried to use it as a limit...

Re: Undoing Compressor
Curious indeed. Can your screen reader read the title bar of a window? If so, does the title bar of the effect GUI say "SC4"? No, it says only "Dialog", followed by a lot of "Static text" statements until it reaches the Rms/Peak slider. However, it says "SC4 icon&...

Re: Meeting ACX Requirements w/ Audacity
Right then. Part of the application of Steve's Limiter is following it with Effect > Amplify to -3? Or is that only if I'm preparing client delivery? I think that there are two versions of the same limiter effect. Mine has just the option to bring the level up to 0 dB after completion. Thus, the mu...

Re: Undoing Compressor
Strangely enough, "SC4" which the manual describes as a stereo compressor is in fact an expander (at least in my Audacity 2.0.6 alpha). Are you sure that you're not confusing that with the "SE4"? http://plugin.org.uk/ladspa-swh/docs/ladspa-swh.html#tth_sEc2.93 Yes, I'm sure. &qu...

Re: Undoing Compressor
The reverse of a compressor is an expander. Strangely enough, "SC4" which the manual describes as a stereo compressor is in fact an expander (at least in my Audacity 2.0.6 alpha). However, you must have the exact parameters that your device applied in the first place. Also, the Zoom could ...

Re: How to Bass Boost a song?
Thanks for the clarification, Steve. This subject got me to do some more research to confirm what I thought was an industry established standard (in order to prevent damage to audio equipment) of a max peak level of -12db for commercial CD releases which I found your wiki link Redbook standard didn...
