Another possible difficulty:
There doesn't seem to be a input control.
Enter "-10" as noise reduction factor
--> 36 dB boost in my specific sample audio (!)

Re: Silence isn't silent?
Is there a better software package for Linux for generating clean test signals in raw PCM or WAV format? http://sox.sourceforge.net/ The on line manual for SOX is very detailed. In which regard should it be better than Audacity? Audacity is a really good choice, especially if you familiarize yourse...

Re: Problems with the new Noise Reduction replacing Noise Re
(snip) Note that even with the smoothing advanced to "1," there are still wineglass sounds at the breath gasp — about 4.3 sec. Without that advance, the hollow gasp is prominent. The setting should probably be even further advanced for a final presentation. Sounds like that are the red flag for per...

Re: Removing (Loud) 50Hz buzz
That's just a short circuit.
Close your fingers around a line-in cable and you'll get something similar.
Either the cables or the adapters are faulty.

Could you provide (i.e. attach) a sample, a few seconds long, as wave file?

Re: Comparing Noise Removal/Reduction between 2.0.6 and 2.1.
As always Robert, precise Nyquist code to reproduce your examples is welcome. Here you are: (scale-db -20.0 (hzosc (sum 4000 (mult 1000 (lp (noise) 10))))) The deviation is +/- 500 Hz. For the profile, the "1000" multiplier would be zero. Because of the lowpass filter, the deviation is of cours not...

Re: Comparing Noise Removal/Reduction between 2.0.6 and 2.1.
Ok, I've enabled the advanced settings. A higher window size seems to improve the result. However, I suggest to use zero padding up to e.g 8192 samples and treat the whole as a 2048 window (regarding step size etc.) I'm not sure about the analysis/synthesis windows: Is default to use Hann for profil...

Re: Comparing Noise Removal/Reduction between 2.0.6 and 2.1.
I've still have a bad feeling about the frequency smoothing. It should imo be logarithmic and not linear.I' Robert I don't understand. Do you mean the frequency "distance" over which it works should be according to a logarithmic scale of frequency or did you mean some other logarithm? As it works n...

Re: Comparing Noise Removal/Reduction between 2.0.6 and 2.1.
I've still have a bad feeling about the frequency smoothing. It should imo be logarithmic and not linear I'm having trouble with "Frequency Smoothing" and "Sensitivity". I don't know how to advise people about these controls other than "leave them at their default settings" (which defeats the point...
