Re: Rapid Comparison Switching
And that trick was exactly what enabled James to win the day with Standard Mode being default. ;) The simple mode unmutes the track first--unnecessarily, I think. I disagree, because "Solo on" muting all the other tracks and "Solo off" unmuting all tracks is intuitive. Your trick is not at all intu...

Re: Rapid Comparison Switching
No it doesn't. Which Preference track mode are you in? No combination of Mutes and Solos will produce one button which switches between two solos. I always get B, AB, B, AB; or A, AB, A, AB. I never get A then B then A then B by repeatedly pushing one button . Koz This works only with the standard ...

Re: "Wave Stats" plug-in
Robert: In a word "Yuck". I implemented it using that technique, but it is less than elegant. How come the language comes so close to implementing "printf" and yet misses? I see, we do not share the same thinking about elegancy. Your code looks a bit less elegant due to the absolute digit settings ...

Re: Rapid Comparison Switching
Would it be worth having an additional Solo button behaviour option? None Simple (like the current "Simple") [default] Multi (like the current "Standard") A/B The A/B option would be for the specific case cited by Koz (which I think is a fairly common use case). With the A/B option selected: 1) (id...

Re: Removing vocals
Have a look here: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=85416&p=276075 It's not always easy and it won't work for some vocals. You can try the Vocal Reduction and Isolation effect if you like: http://forum.audacityteam.org/download/file.php?id=12536 There's no documentation yet but the...

Re: Not able to remove vocal from mp3 file
Not in Audacity. Vocal Removal is a dead simple tool. Anything appearing exactly identical in left and right is cancelled. Usually that's the voice, but also can be bass and drums. Stereo vocal effects are different in left and right. So they stay behind. Vocal Removal fails way more often than peo...

Re: "Wave Stats" plug-in
Here's an updated version. Please give it a try. I renamed it "ACXcheck" because it now compares the values it gets against the ACX requirements and reports if the track passes or what's wrong if it doesn't. I fixed the "fudge factor", the A-weighted RMS numbers should now be correct for sample rat...

Re: "Reverse Karaoke"/How To Remove Music, Keep Vocals?
Frank, some feedback after you have played with it - in particular what settings you find most useful and effective - would be most helpful. I've been playing with it in the name of testing for Robert (usually as I record new stuff). So far I seem to have more success with the vocal removal than th...

Re: MP3 not showing correct VBR after Export
Deja vu . FYI - MP3 only can't go higher than 320kbps. That's a myth. You can go up to 640 kbps but no player can play it. However, you can use the --freeformat switch in order to archive your files and re-import them into Audacity. On export, choose "External Program". Under options, you can speci...
