Re: How to layer vocals from one song over audio from anothe
That's a difficult task, as far as I can see. I gather that you have mastered all the beat matching and pitch shifting stuff? You should try this plug-in to adjust the balance between original vocals and (mostly) background: 2D Stereo Toolkit Listen to the first example. Notice how the music keeps i...

Re: How to make speech sound like it would in the womb
Stupid question, but are we talking about a fetus?
Shouldn't it then sound like under water?
Sorry if I'm on the wrong track.

Re: Calculating average voice pitch
It seems too simple to do what the poster wants. What happens if the durations of the same song performed twice varies as it almost certainly will. How does it handle harmonics? If the poster gets a head cold, do all the numbers go off? Too close to the microphone and the readings to nuts? Koz The ...

Could you attach a short sample?
Preferable with some "silence" and some speech.

Here's a similar Topic: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=71523&p=208223#p208156 There's a little Nyquist plug-in included that returns the mean frequency. Put the code into a text editor and save it as name.ny in your Plug-in folder. And there's Steve's Pitch Detection plug...

Re: problem with SAL
Sorry that I've forgot the duration in 'LFO'.
I often use the high resolution counterpart 'hzosc' and this function doesn't need the duration argument.

Re: Karaoke, Rotation, Panning & more
Looks just like on windows. The returned value is the peak of the sound. Shouldn't the temporary file be an *.aiff? An extract from the system.lsp file (from stand-alone Nyquist, Mac folder) shows: ; system.lsp -- machine/system-dependent definitions ; Macintosh (setf ny:bigendianp t) ;; note that *...

Re: problem with SAL
It gets worse instead of better, if I may say so... Fmosc takes min. 2 arguments: - a pitch expressed as a midi note. As I said above the 'step-to-hz' function is wrong you've already have a pitch as step (e.g. E6) and that's what the function needs. - a modulating sound -not a number (Lfo is in you...

Re: move tracks workflow issue
You can add my vote for the assigning of shortcuts to the track drop-down menu. It is for exact that reason: Moving tracks around that way is to cumbersome. It would also be nice to have a entry "Move Track to Top" in the context menu. This would facilitate the track arrangement per keyboa...

Re: noise measurements
Those numbers won't help you much. Again, The values are only relative ratios to the maximum recording level that Audacity can handle. This means that your measurement must be compared to a signal that has 85 dB. You have to set up your equipment near the noise source you want to compare. You'll the...
