Re: Audacity as an aid to Harmony Singers

How do you get these tracks, i.e. in which format? Can't you import them directly? This would be the easiest way because the tracks will then presumably have the same length and play in sync within Audacity. If you once have imported the files, you can simply use the mute and solo buttons to make yo...

Re: Karaoke, Rotation, Panning & more

New Version 1.3 released (see first post for download) There are only 5 controls remaining: Action catalog You can now choose between Vocal or Center Removal/Isolation. The difference is only that the former uses the low and high cut settings and the latter not. Fixed Rotation and Fixed Pan (with -3...

Re: How to layer vocals from one song over audio from anothe

Robert, I finally got around to messing with tracks and your plug-in seems to work just fine. Thanks so much for your step-by-step instructions on how to combine the pop track and hip-hop vocals (even though I'm not quite that far in my own experimenting haha). Anyway, on what I experimented on, th...

Re: Editing one track of music out of a recording

I do it normally like this: - homekey - play - As soon as the music starts: "set (or extent) right selection" key (Sorry, I don't know which one this is on an English keyboard, a closing square bracket, I assume) - stop button You can now listen to the selection again, if it includes some ...

Re: Sample Set Alignment and Difference

What feature do you want to examine precisely? I am asking because the simple substraction may not tell you very much about the difference between the two files (especially with regard to the harmonic content). All you will do is removing all content that is 100% correlated. If the two tracks were a...

Re: Karaoke, Rotation, Panning & more

I know, you want if ever possible avoid words like "Threshold", "Bias" and so on to keep things grand- parents proof (although my grand pa would most likely not know what karaoke means - even if he would still be alive and could celebrate his 125th birthday). It's a matter of us...

Re: Karaoke, Rotation, Panning & more

Actually I was tickling Steve rather that you Robert, vis-a-vis the need for a Really Simple Silence Finder. But Vocal Remover if anything has a greater number of challenged users than Silence Finder. I know, you want if ever possible avoid words like "Threshold", "Bias" and so ...

Re: Karaoke, Rotation, Panning & more

The mono/stereo entries simply represent the current and the more advanced technique for the Vocal Removal. In a more specialised version I think that you could miss out the mono option since we already have a tool for that. Doing so will help to differentiate it from the "standard" vocal...

Re: Karaoke, Rotation, Panning & more

The mono/stereo entries simply represent the current and the more advanced technique for the Vocal Removal. In other words, the "classic" method is a integrated part - for those who are content with a dual mono result. The long name should be something like "Center removal from Stereo...

Re: Karaoke, Rotation, Panning & more

Thanks Robert. This is clearly a powerful and useful tool (even if rather slow), but I still feel that the complexity will be daunting to most users. I agree (but then you knew I would say that) ;) Gale How did you know that we knew that you knew we knew? I think that there is after all no hinderan...
