Re: Frequency compression around a center?

What are the frequency ranges you want to convert from -- i.e what is the original sample rate? There's actually a lot source material available on the web. Most algorithms are FFT-based. For example, if you calculate a mel frequency cepstrum, you have to re-map the linear FFT bins to the Mel scale....

Re: 1960s-style reverb

Don't get to familiar with GVerb, there's another reverb coming with the next release.
I believe it can already be tried out in the alpha built versions of Audacity.
Gayle can tell you more.

Re: linking multiple songs back to back

You can try this plug-in: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=67839&sid=1859c42b8441212aca110a8bd551f29e#p190928 (put it in the plug-in folder, restart Audacity and import your files) It will appear in the effect menu. For your purpose, it is enough to choose trim and chain up...

Re: Sync radio audio broadcast with television video broadca

Latency adjusts the delay that Audacity applies to the show being written to the hard drive. It's purpose is to "tune out" the difference between your old track headphone signals and the creation of the new voice track ( assuming the voice is the new track). It doesn't appear as a live fe...

Re: Problems exporting to windows movie maker

I am not very familiar with movie maker but it seems to me that you're trying to import the audio file as a video.
Can't you simply drag and drop the file into an empty audio track?
Have you added such a track already?

Re: Trying to clean up a song of my mom singing for her fune

There's some interference going on between the left and right channel. They do only relate to 43 % - which is quite unusual for such a single voice recording. Firstly, I thought it would be best to just take either channel but this doesn't seem to work out. each one has its weak and strong passages....

Re: playing a labeled selection

You are welcome.
I guess that you now press enter before playing. Or have you tried the additional key combination too?
You can of course also click on the play button, this doesn't produce spaces either.

Re: Dynamic Expansion

Chris' Dynamic compressor can be used as an expander too. The compression factor has to be negative for this purpose.

Re: playing a labeled selection

You are in the Label text edit mode. Just press enter to leave it. Space bar or play in general will now work. You can also assign an alternative key combination to play (in preferences). It must be a combination that does not represent a character or number. My assignement is for example Ctrl-Space...
