Re: Octave band filter
Thank you, Steve. That's a good lesson on how to use local variables, and now I know about the difference between let and let*. I appreciate that you'd take the trouble to show me how to do it right. I have a couple of questions, if you or someone else could help me out. First, I notice that the (s...

Re: Isolating a sound such as a......
Use the Risset Drum effect from the generate menu. It gives a nice booming sound for low frequencies (~50 Hz) Adjust the noise parameters accordingly (to your taste). A decay of 2 s may be appropriate too. Generate several of those beats and move them with the time-shift tool. Render those beats int...

Re: PC speaker tones generator?
The Nyquist prompt is in the effect menu. I have Windows 7 64 and there's no pc-speaker access provided anymore (if other audio devices are available)., so I can not record the beep. There's not even a beep on startup anymore. The simplest beep can be produced by sending the ASCII value 7 to the out...

Re: Isolating a sound such as a......
I've listened to the beginning of the shamanic dream video, but I don't know if it was the right song. Anyway, you can't separate the rhythm from the other instruments. You can use the lowpass filter (Effect menu) to catch the deep drum sounds (high roll-off and about 200 to 400 Hz). By the way, the...

Re: PC speaker tones generator?
The pc-speaker is a quite simple device. It only knows two states: +5V and no current. You feed a timer with a down-count number until the next change. This produces a pulse train: 0 0 1 1 1 1 0 0 1 1 1 0 1 0 (1 = full expansion, 0 = rest position) A square tone generated in Audacity can simulate th...

Re: PC speaker tones generator?
And what do you mean exactly with pc-speaker sound? I assume it isn't a simple beep... Even Lo-Fi sound has its variations. We've discussed a Spectrum (ZX81 or so) emulation a while ago (there are also converters available for this kind of sound, using existing audio files). It is basically a oscill...

Re: Changing a track rate shrinks the wave size dramatically
Assuming the project rate is set to 44100 Hz, then the sample rate of the first track must still be 11025 Hz in order to play correctly. The samples will automatically be resampled or interpolated during playback and export. Hence, you have to set this sample rate manually to correct the size. On th...

Re: link songs into one session
Actually there have been several votes to add a feature to Align End to End to adjust the track overlap. Hence I forgot Robert's plug-in (sorry, Robert). I'd probably remember more of the plug-ins if they got onto the Wiki. Gale No problem. I actually want to rebuild this plug-in implementing the n...

Re: link songs into one session
There is a plug-in available here that may be of use: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=190928#p190928 If you have questions about that plug-in, please ask in that topic - the author of that plug-in is more likely to find your post there. (Thank you Steve.) You can as well post any ques...
