Thank you, I found that the Realtek Audio manager had the line in muted. That was the problem.

no waveform or vu meter when recording (SOLVED)
I just installed Audacity on Windows XP professional. I get sound out of my speakers when playing my tape deck into the line in port of the sound card. I have set up everything properly as far as I know, but not able to record. What can I check? Any advice?
