Sorry for delay in responding; I've been unwell. Anyway, I finally got around to recording via the S/PDIF output on my main MD deck. No problems and really strong signal. Thanks for the advice. Jim

It's a Sharp mini-disc and I have it on its loudest volume setting. Regarding the sound card.
