Re: Providing a build with WDM-KS support
I have read the instructions on how to build Audacity from source, and add WDM-KS support, but I am not a programmer, and I would be out of my depth trying to achieve this. Or I would need baby-steps instructions that a toddler could follow…

Re: Providing a build with WDM-KS support
If WDM-KS was an option, and people still chose that option despite the warnings, at worst they would get a BSOD. But BSODs aren’t such a big deal when the cause is known! People only have to reboot or press the reset button, and forget about WDM-KS when they use Audacity again. Maybe they could the...

Re: Providing a build with WDM-KS support
It is a matter of how many PCs actually get BSODs because of WDM-KS. If it’s only 3 or 4% at most, I think it is worth including it in Audacity. After all, it is only an option in a menu. When users choose this option, Audacity could pop a message up, warning of the potential pitfalls of selecting W...

Re: Providing a build with WDM-KS support
It seems it might very well never happen. There isn’t a beta version with WDM-KS support, and from what you are saying, there won’t be any in any foreseeable future… How could WDM-KS support be developed/implemented if it isn’t tested?

Providing a build with WDM-KS support
Split from http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=282152#p282152 You might possibly find that 2.0.2 http://www.oldfoss.com/Audacity.html does not have this issue - some changes we made for 2.0.3 to improve audio device behaviour on Vista and later apparently introduced quirks on a few machine...

Re: Windows 10 error opening device or Internal PortAudio er
Does Audacity 2.1.1 which does not support WDM-KS require stereo mix to be enabled before any MME, DirectSound or WASAPI input will record? I have just installed Audacity 2.1.1 for test purposes. With Stereo Mix deactivated in the Windows Sound Applet, WASAPI is working just fine. Still with Stereo...

Re: Windows 10 error opening device or Internal PortAudio er
Do you mean Robert that stereo mix has to be activated for any WASAPI, MME or DirectSound input to work? If so that seems like a bug somewhere. I have a Gigabyte motherboard with integrated Realtek audio. The Gigabyte download site has an updated (2015/07/21) Realtek HD Audio Driver valid for all W...

Re: Audacity on Windows 10
I am not sure this is relevant, but I thought it might help. I am still using Audacity 2.1.0-alpha-Jan 12 2015 because of support for Windows WDM-KS. This version of Audacity worked fine under Windows 8.1 x64. It is now working fine under Windows 10 x64. I could and still can record live streaming r...

Re: Distorted sound while recording
Have you tried using the dual RCA adapter cable instead of the USB cable?
