Re: Backing up and Archiving
The page I actually pointed to has good information about making a backup copy of an Audacity project. The title of the section is "Making a backup copy of a project". To try and get my point across unambiguously: I have emboldened, italicized and underscored that part of Gale's post with which I d...
Re: GVerb bug
For the attention of the Forum Team: I'm experiencing a minor problem with this topic. It repeatedly shows up when I do "View unread posts". I'm hoping that by adding a post of my own it will clear the condition. By all means follow up off-forum via PMs so that this topic doesn't get "hijacked" Post...

Re: Help with Radiodj and Audacity
My intrepetation of where you are at and what you are trying to achieve is as follows: - you can successfully record everything you want (except the RadioDJ bits) into Audacity. No problems. Is that correct? - you can successfully set up everything you want in RadioDJ and hear those on playback thro...

Re: Backing up and Archiving
The page I actually pointed to has good information about making a backup copy of an Audacity project. The title of the section is "Making a backup copy of a project". Once again, that is manifestly not true! When I right-click on the link you gave and open it in a new window, I get the page as dis...

Re: Burning a CD
...you have mentioned alternative Free Burners in your tutorials... Just to clarify this point, Audacity is a sound editor program. It does not have any capability to do the CD Burning. To perform the burn to CD, you will need a working CD Burner device installed within, or attached to, your comput...

Re: Backing up and Archiving
If we are talking about backing up Audacity projects it's already covered in http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Audacity_Projects . Gale, That is manifestly untrue! Using Firefox's Find command on that page reveals just two instances of the string "back" (without the quotes). Both of these are in t...

Re: record button doesn't work
Is the slider for the Mic symbol showing a non-zero position. I have just tried to record streaming sound off the Internet. Despite having the sound devices all set correctly - on a system on which this kind of recording had worked successfully a few weeks ago - I got a "flat line" recording. I was ...

Re: Pausing the Export (Save) Function
The original poster was talking about "saving" in MP3 format; i.e. he/she was doing a File > Export operation. I'm curious to know how big these recordings are that can take 60-90 minutes to export as MP3. The impression I have formed when exporting MP3 files is that they take about 20-25% of the ac...

Re: Backing up and Archiving
Thanks for the support, Bill. I was beginning to think I was on a par with John the Baptist - a voice crying in the wilderness. :D We seem to agree that the file format of the backup should not matter. What matters is having an appropriate level of backup for the job in hand. All my jobs in hand are...

Re: Backing up and Archiving
Koz, Thanks for the reply. Projects are brittle. What do you mean by "brittle"? Do you mean the susceptibility to surface defects on the hard-drive? Every "bit" (binary digit) runs exactly the same risk as every other "bit". If there is a defect in the WAV file, that is now a useless WAV file. In th...
