Re: Backing up and Archiving

@Gale, @Steve, @Bill, @waxcylinder, If I might, I'd like to contribute a view from someone who, I hope, is a reasonably typical user (if there is such a thing :D ). When faced with any new software/hardware, I find myself asking two basic questions and sometimes one or both of two supplementary ques...

Re: Using my back up

I concur with waxcylinder's advice. Re-install the software and copy and paste the data. Using copy and paste leaves the "source" copy intact, just in case anything else goes wrong! Remember that you must keep the Audacity project files (the .aup files) and their associated folders (the _data folder...

Re: record guitar and/or keys

Does your system recognise the USB device when you plug it in? Does Windows give you the usual "New device discovered" pop-ups? If it does, connect the guitar to your PC with the USB cable BEFORE you launch Audacity. Then, after launching Audacity look in the Device Tool bar for a USB device and try...

...if I refer to the "Wiki" I mean http://wiki.audacityteam.org/... if I refer to the "Manual" I mean http://manual.audacityteam.org/... And therein lies the cause of all my frustration from mid-page 3 onwards! You folks are thoroughly familiar with the documentation of Audacity and know what lies ...

Re: Audacity "Cannot Find Project, Cannot find File..."

What you appear to have saved is an Audacity project called "Titanic Crash SFX". The "Titanic Crash SFX.aup" file is the Audacity project file and the folder "Titanic Crash SFX_data" contains the audio but in a format that only Audacity can understand. You need to have both the aup file and the _dat...

Re: Nyquist Reverb plugin

... a good approach would be to look at the GUI and required features first, then write the code to fit. Steve, Having spent 30 years in the IT industry, a large slice of that as a programmer, what you are suggesting would have been regarded as heresy in my day. Think of the user first, then design...

Re: Running Voiceover Recording Sessions - "Take" Numbering?

If, as you say, each new Take appears as a new track below the previous one, you can achieve something of what you seem to want by renaming each track (via the drop-down in the Track Details panel at the left of each track and then File Save Project As... Admittedly, you'll have to do those renames ...

But Gale's link didn't go to the wiki page. Had it done so I would have had no cause to get as annoyed as I did!

Then I think somebody needs to convince Gale of the benefit.

Indeed it is, and nowhere in those results is there a section titled Making a backup copy of a project (my emboldening, italics and underscore). QED!
